A few things to consider when building your quotes/orders

Apr-Jun
To prepare teachers for training and the first few months of school, you may want to order just one copy of each title teachers will use for ALL units. This will provide what teachers need for training, and give them a head start on reading for the school year. This is especially helpful for upper grade teachers.

And, we know not every school’s needs are different. If returns are necessary this is the best way to find out, not after hundreds of books arrive.

Jun-Aug
Place an order for student copies of literature. Here is a suggested ordering plan:

May-Jul  Units 1-4   |   Jul-Sep  Units 5-8   |   Sep-Nov  Units 9-12+

NOTE: If there is any doubt the school will use a title, do not stamp, mark, or cover them. You can return them if they are unmarked up to 30 days after delivery.

Why break it up?

It is manageable.

If this is for a new implementation, the actual number of books that arrive and need to be sorted can be kept manageable this way. (An order for 10 copies of three levels for four units for five grades = approximately 1200 books.)

To consider: Do you have a storage plan?

Reading level adjustments can be made easily.

Once teachers experience their first few units they may recognize a need to accommodate a less difficult or more advanced level in their small groups. They will have the flexibility to select titles from a different level in their next order.

A Note about Literature

The most challenging issue within the literature component of Foundations & Frameworks is title availability. Make Way for Books has been working closely with distributors to ensure consistent inventory levels of Foundations & Frameworks titles. While we find it particularly exciting to think we as a reading community can influence in-print longevity of quality literature, we cannot control when a book becomes unavailable. Books do go into an indefinite period of reprint, or go out of print without notice.

For that reason, while core recommendations within the program help make ordering easier, we try to offer alternate recommendations for each unit’s level. Any adjustments can easily be made to your school’s master inventory sheet.
